ESET NOD32 Antivirus 5 provides a lightweight yet powerful antivirus engine that will keep your system malware-free.

The program generally scores very well in testing by independent labs. AV-Comparatives, for instance, awarded NOD32 Antivirus 4 the highest Advanced+ rating for its on-demand scanning performance, where it identified almost every threat while keeping false positives to a minimum. And the system did especially well in proactive tests, where it did better at detecting brand new malware samples than most of the competition.

This is a highly accurate antivirus engine, then, and once installed it keeps a close eye on all the entry points for your system: internet traffic, email (even when SSL encrypted), the programs you access, removable storage devices as they're connected to your system, all are scanned for threats as they appear.

This version of the program also sees a host of usability tweaks to improve it in various ways. Battery Mode helps to extend laptop battery life, for instance, without compromising security. NOD32 Antivirus now detects when full-screen applications are running - games, video players and so on - and won't interrupt you with unnecessary alerts.

And the bundled SysInspector and SysRescue tools provide deeper scans of system processes to help identify hidden threats, and create bootable rescue discs to simply the repair of an infected PC.
