Handy Start Menu is a clever utility that optimises cluttered Startup menus and makes it quicker to access your programs.
The program replaces the standard All Programs menu with its own version, where your apps are organised into categories like "Fun and Games", "Utilities", "Internet" and "Security". We've seen similar programs before, but they've always forced you to set up these categories all on your own: Handy Start Menu does it automatically, and well, recognising and organising 78 apps on our test PC, leaving only 20 to be rearranged manually.
And that's not all. When you browse to a program menu that contains a single option,Handy Start Menu doesn't force you to open it, then click on the shortcut. Just open the menu and it'll launch the program automatically, saving you even more time.
If there's a small down side here it's that you need to have the Handy Start Menu process running in the background. But it only consumes around 16MB of RAM, so it's not exactly going to slow you down.
And a notable plus point is the program doesn't interfere with your regular Start Menu in any other way, so it's not going to cause any problems or conflicts. Even if you do have any issues with the program, it can be disabled in a click and your regular Start Menu will return immediately.
