Group tasks by location or type so you can easily complete them when convenient.

The biggest problem facing anyone managing a single task list is that many tasks depend on where you are or what facilities you have available. You can only visit the shops when you’re in town. You can’t make phone calls when your battery’s dead and so on. Managing tasks simply by their due date can be a recipe for frustration as you work your way down, encountering obstacles as you go.

If you group your tasks according to location or the availability of a particular resource like the internet and order these groups by due date, you can be a whole lot more productive. If you find yourself with a spare minute or two sitting by the phone, you could knock off a few of the calls you have listed. In the mood for concentrating online? Check your list of internet tasks. Had to nip out to get milk? You could pick up those envelopes you need at the same time.

This is the basis for GTD (Getting Things Done) task management and the aptly named GeeTeeDee helps you to do just that. You can set up multiple groups of tasks, each ordered by due date and tick off each one as it’s completed. There are some common groups, like home, phone and internet, but you can also create your own custom ones too. You can easily drag and drop tasks between groups if you realise that you have a need to change them. It’s simple, but very effective.

Verdict:

This deceptively simple task manager makes managing your to-do lists easy and helps you to fully implement a Getting Things Done strategy.

Unreal Engine 4.8

Free Full Commercial Software

Unreal Engine is Epic Games' game engine, a powerful suite of tools for developing anything from basic 2D games to professional RPGs, first person shooters and whatever else you like.

Wide standards support - DirectX, OpenGL, JavaScript/ WebGL - means your projects can be targeted to almost any platform: consoles, iOS, Android, Windows, OS X, Linux, HTML5 browsers and more.

There's a vast amount to learn, of course, and that's even before you start building your game. But there's plenty of documentation, tutorials, demos and sample projects to point you in the right direction.

The package is now entirely free, too - no annoying limitations, nag screens or anything else. Epic now only requires that you pay a 5% royalty after the first $3,000 of revenue per product per quarter. And even then, you "pay no royalty for film projects, contracting and consulting projects such as architecture, simulation and visualization."
