FSS Video Downloader is a free tool for downloading videos from YouTube, Facebook, Hulu, Metacafe, Liveleak, Vimeo and many other popular sites.
Wherever your source clip happens to be, the download procedure is the same. Locate its URL in your browser, and copy this to the clipboard; switch to FSS Video Downloader, and click "Paste URL"; choose your preferred clip format and quality, and click "Download".
And there's no need to choose a file name, destination folder or anything else (unless you want to). By default the video is saved to your My Documents\FreeSmartSoft\Video folder, using whatever title it had on the site, and you can play it at a click.
There's an option to expand the program's default compact interface to display a browser window, which you can then use to navigate YouTube, Facebook or whatever other site you like. This seems a good idea at first, but the browser isn't particularly well integrated. If you're watching a video on YouTube and decide you want to download it, for instance, you can't just click the Download button; it's still necessary to copy the current URL to the clipboard, and click "Paste URL" first.
Otherwise, though, FSS Video Downloader is a simple and easy-to-use tool which makes it easy to download videos from a host of leading sites.
Be wary of the installer, though, which will by default add a browser toolbar to your system. Pay attention during the setup process and check each step before you click the "Next" button.
