Google Docs for iOS
You can edit your documents offline with Google Docs.

Until now, iPad and iPhone users have been poorly served by official apps for accessing their Google Drive-stored documents. Unlike its Android counterpart, Google Drive has always been a read-only option for viewing documents stored in the cloud, but all that has now changed.

Google Docs, along with its companion apps Google Sheets (spreadsheets) and Google Slides (presentations), allows you to not just access files stored on your Google Drive account for viewing, sharing or printing, but also edit existing word processing documents and even create them from scratch.

It even boasts built-in collaboration, allowing you to work on a document at the same time as a friend or colleague, and works with Microsoft Word files as well as its own proprietary formats.

There are some limitations – you can edit and format the text for example, but you can’t do anything about any existing images, whether that’s resizing, cropping or even replacing them.

The app is also able to work offline with your documents too - to do this, you’ll need to open the document as normal, then tap the menu button before ticking "Keep on device" to download a copy. Once downloaded, your documents are accessed via the main menu under – wait for it – the "On device" section.

Google Docs is an intriguing prospect, and currently the simplest way to edit or create Google Drive-hosted text documents on your mobile. The inability to manage images is a minor irritant, but for making text edits or bashing out documents on the go, it's a good choice - particularly as it's free.

What's New in Version 1.2016.38204

* Table editing in print layout
* Bug fixess and performance improvements

Despite the editing limitations, Google Docs is a decent standalone tool for editing your Google Drive documents on the go - support for Word is welcome as is the ability to edit offline.

WhatsApp Messenger 2.16.11

Free Full Commercial Software

WhatsApp Messenger is the world's most popular instant messaging app for smartphones.

You can use it to send and receive text and voice messages, photos, videos, even call your friends in other countries, and because it uses your phone's internet connection it might not cost you anything at all (depending on whether you'll pay data charges).

It's easy to set up and use. There's no need to create and remember new account names or pins because it works with your phone number, and uses your regular address book to find and connect you with friends who use WhatsApp already.

You can talk one-to-one or in group chats, and because you're always logged in there's no way to miss messages. Even if your phone is turned off, WhatsApp will save your messages and display them as soon as you're back online.

There's plenty more (location sharing, contact exchange, message broadcasting) and the app is free for a year, currently $0.99/ year afterwards.

What's new in 2.16.11?

 - Due to a bug in iOS 10, your notification sounds may not properly play until you restart your iPhone (press and hold the power and home buttons for 10 seconds).
- In groups, you can now mention specific people to get their attention by typing the @ symbol and choosing someone from the picker.
- When forwarding messages, you can now send to multiple chats at once
- Ask Siri to send WhatsApp messages or place WhatsApp calls (iOS 10+)
- Answer WhatsApp calls right from your lock screen, just like a standard phone call (iOS 10+)
- A new Widget lets you quickly jump to a recent chat or see which chats have unread messages (iOS 10+)
