Auslogics Disk Defrag 3.4.3.0
Superb disk defragmentation tool that will keep your hard drive in good working order

Fragmentation is caused by creating and deleting files and folders, installing new software, and downloading files from the Internet. Computers do not necessarily save an entire file or folder in a single space on a disk; they're saved in the first available space. After a large portion of a disk has been used, most of the subsequent files and folders are saved in pieces across the volume.

Hard disks are by far the slowest component in your computer. Therefore fragmented disks often become a bottleneck of the system performance. Besides causing slowdowns, fragmentation makes the disk drive heads move too much when reading files which leads to freeze-ups and system crashes. Auslogics Disk Defrag was designed to remedy system sluggishness and crashes caused by disk fragmentation. It will help you get the maximum performance out of your expensive hardware investments.

With its auto-defragmentation feature, Auslogics Disk Defrag acts in real time, while your system is idle. Since Disk Defrag s very compact and requires few system resources, it can easily defragment your hard drives in the background and you will not even notice its activity. Just set Disk Defrag to run automatically and you’ll forget about disks fragmentation shortly. You can also schedule a disk defragmention process.

Auslogics Disk Defrag 3.4.3.0 contains these new features:

-Added free space availability check before creating Rescue Center backups. If there is not enough free space on a disk, user has the option to abort the operation or proceed without creating a backup.
-Fixed memory leaks, optimized code and algorithms, which improved the speed of practically every tool in the program.
-All modules that work with hard drives were optimized to correctly process large data volumes, namely the Rescue Center will now correctly create and restore backups larger than 2 GB.
-Made numerous corrections to language files.
-Made numerous changes to modules’ interface to make them more convenient and easier to work with.
-Improved reports and operation results display in response to user feedback. Now this information is easier to understand.
-Added partial Windows 8 compatibility. Full compatibility will be implemented in BoostSpeed version 5.4
-Improved algorithm of automatic SSD detection. This allows for more exact SSD detection and for automatic enabling of a special defrag algorithm for SSD’s.
-Modified algorithm for system resource usage limitation, which improved overall stability of program operation.
-Corrected all known bugs.
-Corrected installer errors, optimized program installation and uninstallation.

Verdict:

One of the most powerful disk defragmentation tools, free for personal use, receive a major update with a host of new features

Spotlight: Free Full Software

Giveaway: WinISO Standard 6.1.0

Free Full Commercial Software

WinISO is a very comprehensive tool which provides everything you need to create, edit and convert disc images.

If you've an image file already, for instance (ISO, CUE/ BIN, NRG, MDF, CCD, IMG and DVD formats are supported) then you can open it in a click or two, browse the image contents, and extract the files you need with a quick drag and drop.

It's just as easy to create new ISO9660, UDF, even HFS+ images. Just choose the option you need, then either manually build up your preferred file and folder structure; drag and drop your files and folders from Explorer onto the program; or create an image directly from a CD, DVD or Blu-ray disc.

Of course you can edit images, too. Is an ISO file too large for your needs, say? Open it up, locate and remove any surplus files to free up a little space.

WinISO program has full support for reading and creating bootable image files. A simple conversion tool makes it easy to convert disc images into the format you need. And the program can even mount ISO files as Explorer files, or burn images to disc when you're ready to save them.

Please note, this trial version of WinISO Standard will not save files greater than 500MB in size.

Giveaway: on Wednesday, we're giving you the full current version of WinISO Standard 6 worth $29.95. The download link here will take you to Downloadcrew Giveaway.
