CyberLink's Power2Go 8 is a comprehensive suite of tools for backing up, burning or converting your media files.
The program offers all the core features you'd expect, creating audio or video CDs or DVDs, burning data to CDs, DVDs or Blu-rays, and copying or erasing discs as required.
That's just the start. A Photo Gallery Disc option creates an interactive HD showcase for your favourite photos, while the Online Media Backup module downloads and backs up data from various web services (Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Vimeo).
There's also a Media Converter, which is significantly improved in this release. As well as basic CD ripping and audio/ video conversions, the program can now rip CDs to AAC, as well as converting audios, audio CDs and videos to more mobile-friendly formats. The Converter has over 150 mobile device profiles, and chooses the right one when you connect it to your PC, automatically configuring the appropriate settings.
There's a real depth of functionality elsewhere, too. You can customise your DVD Video menus, or choose from hundreds of templates available online; backups can be encrypted or password-protected; you're able to create disc images or mount them as virtual drives; and there's an audio editor, BDXL support, and a searchable database of your disc collection.
Power2Go 10 Deluxe, the standard version of the suite, includes all the features we've mentioned so far, and can be yours for $49.95.
Its big brother, Power2Go 10 Platinum, includes a complete disaster recovery tool, which can burn a system recovery disc which includes Windows and your data files, and is able to restore the system later if your hard drive fails. It can span images across multiple discs, offers more audio and DVD options (rip CDs to FLAC/ APE, create DVDs with Dolby Audio), provides a bonus Power Media Player app to play your multimedia files anywhere, and can be yours for $69.95.
