Acebyte Utilities is a collection of tools that aim to help optimise, clean up and repair your PC.
Some of these modules seem quite familiar. A "Startup Manager" can disable Windows startup programs at a click, for instance. The "Disk Defragment" tool reorganises files on your hard drive to help improve performance. And there are tools to fix Registry errors, free up RAM, and more.
Other options will scan your PC for "problems", though, and the issues they find are a little trickier to understand. Should you allow the program to "set two Cache value", for instance? What about "auto adjust desktop icon cache"? Or "disable debugging tools"? If you like to know what this kind of application is doing to your system then you'll be left a little frustrated here.
Still, we were a little reassured to see that Acebyte Utilities does record your original settings before it makes any changes. And so if a particular tweak has some undesirable result then you should be able to reverse it very quickly.
Verdict:
This PC maintenance suite is good in some areas, but falls a little short in others, and in particular some of its suggested tweaks are vague and difficult to understand
