TweakNow RegCleaner is an easy-to-use PC cleanup tool that removes redundant Registry keys and hard drive files in just a few clicks.
The process starts when you choose a cleanup module: the Disk Cleaner, say. Click the Scan Drives button, and watch as RegCleaner inspects every part of your system, looking for leftover "temporary" files and anything else that can safely be deleted. Then wipe them at a click.
It's much the same story with the Registry cleaner. Choose the areas to be scanned, if you like, then let the program detect unnecessary keys and delete them with a single click.
The results aren't quite as impressive, though, and we found the program consistently detected less issues than competing products. Still, there are tweaks you can apply to improve the situation, and RegCleaner is at least notable for the care it takes in keeping you safe. Even the files it deletes will by default be backed up, for instance, so they're easy to restore if it accidentally wipes something important.
The program also comes with a surprising number of bonus tools. A Registry Defragmenter compacts the Registry to reduce its disk and RAM footprint to a minimum, for instance; the Disk Usage Analyzer shows where all your hard drive space has gone; a Startup Manager lets you take control of your Windows startup programs; and the Track Cleaner ensures your privacy by wiping internet and application histories. So there's plenty of useful PC management functionality to explore.
New in v7.3.1:
- System Information: improved support for Windows 8.1.
- System Information -> Windows: detect installed .NET and Java framework.
- System Information -> Windows: detect installed Flash and Silverlight player.
- General: minor improvements and bug fixes.
It doesn't pick up as much junk as we'd like, but RegCleaner is quick, easy and safe to use
