Adobe Lightroom 3.5 adds support for a range of high-end compact digital cameras

30 September 2011, Software Publisher

Adobe has released an update for Photoshop Lightroom, bringing it up to version 3.5 and adding support for an increased range of digital cameras. The ever-increasing number of higher end compact cameras means that there are capable of outputting raw photos and Lightroom has been updated to reflect this wider selection.

The list of newly supported cameras includes models from Fuji, Nikon, Olympus, Ricoh, Panasonic and more, and the same cameras are now also supported by the Camera Raw plug-in 6.5 for Photoshop. As well as adding new hardware support, Lightroom 3.5 is also important because of a number of enhancements and bug fixes.

Performance issues when using the arrow keys to make adjustments have now been addressed, while problems with preview caching that plagued earlier versions of the program have also been fixed. Users of Lightroom 3.4.1 will have experienced issues with GPS Altitude metadata, but this is no longer a problem.

But it is not just problems with Lightroom itself that this latest update addresses, there are built in optical correction options for various lenses. If you have been using various lenses manufactured by Canon, Hasselblad , Sony and others, Lightroom can now automatically fix known image defects that can creep in.
