Printopia for Mac offers an easy way for iPad, iPod and iPhone owners to print documents from their iOS devices using a printer connected to their Mac. Version 2 of the app has just been released, adding support for an unlimited number of virtual printers as well as new security options in the form of password protection.
Virtual printers can be configured to save PDF to a folder on your Mac’s hard drive and the ability to create an unlimited number of virtual printers means that it is possible to preconfigure virtual devices to automatically save certain types of document in a particular location. The use of PDF Workflows helps to make this automation process even easier.
Printopia 2 for Mac also adds the ability to configure all of the settings for any printer – such as paper size and color settings – and any printer you do configure, be it real or virtual, can be customized with a name of your choosing.
In addition to these new features and options, Printopia 2 for Mac also includes new security features that can be used to password protect real and virtual printers. There is also improved support for a wider range of printers, and the application continues to be a great alternative to working with AirPrint.
