Sketch
Sketch is a powerful and acessible vector based drawing tool

Vector drawing tools can be used in everything from design to logo creation, and Sketch is one such tool for OS X. All of the standard tools you would expect to find are included in the application including pens, brushes and pre-defined shapes.

Boolean operations preserve all of the vectors you create and you have the option of using dynamic Boolean operations on groups of vectors. For greater control over page layout, rulers, grids and guides are available and automatic measurements appears to help you to line things up as you see fit.

With an infinite canvas, there is no limit to the size of your creations, but Sketch is even more flexible than this. Your projects can be made up of multiple pages, and elements can be easily shared between pages - this is ideal if you are using the application to create a web site as it means that repeating page elements such as buttons can be edited in a single location and these changes will be reflected throughout the project.

Sketch has a flexible slicing system which can be used to great effect in your projects. Slices ca overlap each other can be easily exported. To speed up the process of creating a project, libraries can be used to store elements that you will want to use again and again. With an excellent range of effects and an ease of use that unusual for such an application, Sketch is a powerful and versatile tool.

Verdict:

An impressive drawing application that is powerful enough for those used to vector based work, yet accessible enough for beginners to jump right into.

Spotlight: Free Full Software

Unreal Engine 4.7.2.0

Free Full Commercial Software

Unreal Engine is Epic Games' game engine, a powerful suite of tools for developing anything from basic 2D games to professional RPGs, first person shooters and whatever else you like.

Wide standards support - DirectX, OpenGL, JavaScript/ WebGL - means your projects can be targeted to almost any platform: consoles, iOS, Android, Windows, OS X, Linux, HTML5 browsers and more.

There's a vast amount to learn, of course, and that's even before you start building your game. But there's plenty of documentation, tutorials, demos and sample projects to point you in the right direction.

The package is now entirely free, too - no annoying limitations, nag screens or anything else. Epic now only requires that you pay a 5% royalty after the first $3,000 of revenue per product per quarter. And even then, you "pay no royalty for film projects, contracting and consulting projects such as architecture, simulation and visualization."
