While Android users have enjoyed home screen widgets for a number of years now, it is only with the release of iOS 14 that the same option has comes to iPhone users. Color Widgets is one of a quickly growing selection of apps that are springing up to help you to take full advantage of this new option.

Because it is such early days for iPhone home screen widgets, the options currently available are a little limited. Although the App Store listing for Color Widgets boasts that it included "hundreds of widgets", there is in fact only one – but there are many, many variants on a theme.

The widget that is on offer shows the current date and time as well as the battery level of your iPhone. There are a very large number of predesigned widgets of this nature for you to choose from, featuring a range of colours, fonts, styles and sizes.

It is also possible to create your own widget by customising each of these elements to suit your tastes and background image

It's worth noting that while, technically, the app will also work on iPad, the developer points out that it has been optimised for the smaller screen.
