SugarSync 3.1.1
SugarSync bounces back with a revamped user interface and new features.

These days cloud-sync applications are ten-a-penny. Most people have learned the wisdom of using a cloud-sync service to not just back up but also keep the latest versions of their files on a myriad of different devices.

SugarSync is one of the more established backup and file synchronisation tools and offers a free - and reasonably generous - 5GB storage space to get started. If you need more than this, you can upgrade to a paid-for account. Like many of its peers, SugarSync is cross-platform, letting you spread your documents far and wide across PC, Mac, Android and iOS.

Once upon a time it was genuinely innovative, but in recent times the competition has caught up and - in many ways - overtaken it. With that in mind, version 2.0 has been redesigned from the ground up, with a radically revamped user panel offering a multitude of new options.

Get an overview of all synced folders via the Cloud tab, or see which files have been recently updated through the Activity tab. There's also a new Contacts section within the Sharing tab for easily sharing folders with individuals, which accompanies another new feature that brings public sharing of folders to SugarSync for the first time.

Other changes include the implementation of SugarSync Drive, giving users direct access to their cloud-stored files via a virtual drive visible in Windows Explorer and Finder, plus a new Cloud Search tool for quickly tracking down files and folders.

The interface redesign is matched in the web app and forthcoming mobile apps for consistently, while version 2 also provides users with direct access to their cloud-stored folders via the SugarSync Drive, accessible from Finder or Windows Explorer like any other.

SugarSync does have the option of letting you choose exactly which folders on your PC are synced, though, and also allows you to pick and choose which device(s) individual folders are synced with, which helps makes it a viable alternative to those frustrated by Dropbox or SkyDrive's rigid folder structures.

Version 3.1.1 brings:

- Adds the ability to upload files and folders into existing sub-folders
- Adds the ability to download files or folders from cloud folders to your local computer
- Adds proxy configuration for customers using proxy servers to connect to SugarSync
- Fixes an issue that could cause SugarSync to crash
- Adds first-time-use experience to help new users get started
- Adds translation support for Japanese and French

Verdict:

Despite the slick redesign and welcome array of new features, issues with performance and various glitches make it difficult to wholeheartedly embrace this new build.

No Free Storage.

I said this long time ago, but the editor didnt bother making it public here.
Sugarsync is no longer free. Go for Google or Outlook and something with free storage. Even dropbox is not worth the amount it gives for free.

Free 5GB storage space for Sugarsync?

I believe Sugarsync no longer offers a free storage plan anymore. Their website does not offer such a plan as far as I can see.

Spotlight: Free Full Software

Ashampoo Burning Studio 2013 (v11.0.6)

Free Full Commercial Software

Ashampoo Burning Studio 2013 is a compact, simple, but surprisingly feature-packed disc burning suite.

The program makes it easy to create simple data discs and audio CDs, for instance: just drag and drop your files onto the list area and you'll be burning the finished disc in a couple of clicks.

That's just the start, though. Burning Studio 2013 can also create data discs with customised, interactive multi-page menus, perfect if you'd like a more professional way to share and present the disc contents.

A built-in backup tool allows you to create backups which may be encrypted, compressed, and span several CDs, DVDs and Blu-rays.

And there are modules to create VCD or SVCD video projects; burn video DVDs or Blu-ray discs from prepared folders; create, browse or burn disc images (ISO, CUE/ BIN and Ashdisc formats are supported); copy discs, erase them, design and print disc covers, labels and booklets, and more.

The focus throughout is on ease of use, though, and so Ashampoo Burning Studio 2013 remains very straightforward, whatever you're doing. Most disc projects are created via the same simple interface, and for the most part all you have to do is drag and drop the necessary files. But experts will find more advanced options are only a click away, and if you need to then you can set ISO and UDF version, enable Joliet, make a disc bootable and more.

Note the download here will take you to the Downloadcrew Software Store where you can download Burning Studio 2013.
