Reg Converter 1.0
Convert Registry .reg files to Bat, Vbs, Au3

Reg Converter 1.0 is a portable tool which converts .reg files to bat (batch files), vbs (VBScript) or au3 (AutoIt).

This can be useful if you have Registry data in a .reg file, and would like more control of how it's merged into a system (you need administrative privileges, say, or you'd like to add the data in an unattended installation).

Using the program is generally as easy as dragging and dropping the source .reg file onto Reg Converter, choosing your output format and clicking "Convert". The batch file or script code appears in the main Reg Converter window, and you can save it to disk (or copy it to the clipboard) with a click.

(The process can be a little more complicated if you're exporting a .bat file. It will ask whether you want to import your data using Reg.exe or Regedit.exe, for instance, and provides various options and settings. But for the most part, there's no need to worry about any of this: accept the default options and they usually work just fine.)

Once the conversion is complete, you're able to enter the source destination into any system by running your saved script (as long as that format is supported, anyway).

If you need to run the program regularly, Reg Converter can also add "Convert to bat/ vbs/ au3" options to the .reg file right-click menu, automatically saving the results to a file, or copying them to the clipboard.

Verdict:

Reg Converter is a simple and convenient way to transform .reg data into something more flexible. Use it with care, though. If your PC security doesn't allow .reg file import then there's probably a good reason; don't try to get around this with Reg Converter unless you're entirely sure the source file is safe.

Spektrel Art 1.0.0

Free Full Commercial Software

Spektrel Art is a stand-alone program and Photoshop plugin which transforms digital photos into "magical art that glimmers and gleams with intersecting lines of tapered light".

What does that mean? Essentially it applies a configurable mix of effects, enhancing edges, smoothing backgrounds and emphasizing colours. Take a look at the thumbnail for one example, and the official product page has more.

Spektral Art works much like any similar tool. Open an image, click one of the thumbnails to apply a particular preset, or click a few buttons and drag some sliders to fine-tune the results.

There's surprising scope for variation, too. For example, just switching from the "Light" to "Dark" theme can transform a bright and friendly image into something dark and sinister, at least in some cases (results vary depending on the source image).

Please note, the demo version doesn't allow images to be saved.

SPECIAL OFFER: as we write, the developer is offering Spektral Art for free. The offer expires August 29th. Please note that you must provide your name, address and phone number to receive your free license.
