There are lots of things to be concerned about when you are connected to the internet, and Avast One is here to protect you against pretty much all of them. Things kick off with an antivirus component which builds on Avast's strong reputation in this field.
In addition to virus protection, the suite will also secure you against malware and ransomware. Ransomware protection is highly configurable, giving you the option of specifying precisely which files you would like to keep protected.
But there are also lots of privacy protection features to be found in the suite. Avast One can notify you if an app tries to use your webcam, so you can intervene if this is not expected. There is Data Breach Monitoring to keep you informed in any of your passwords are involved in security breaches as well as a powerful firewall.
But perhaps the crowning glory of the suite is VPN Secure Connection, a powerful VPN tool that gives you a generous 5GB weekly allowance even in the free Essential version of the software – and there are no limits if you upgrade to the paid-for edition.
On top of this, there are handy tools for improving the performance of your computer. You can use the Disc Cleaner utility to banish unnecessary and unwanted files from your hard drive, and turn to PC Speedup to optimize how applications are able to make use of your processor.
If all of this sounds impressive, the paid-for version of the software has even more to offer – on top of the unlimited VPN which also offers a wider choice of countries through which to send your web traffic. The firewall includes additional options such as protection from spoofing attacks.
There is also protection against web hijacking. As an added bonus, the paid-for Individual version can be used on multiple devices, while the Family version can be used by up to six people and a huge 30 devices.
You would be very hard pressed to find a similar tool that offers anywhere the number of components or the level of protection provided by Avast One. There is a strong argument for paying for the Individual edition of the software, but even if you stick with the free Essential edition, you still get incredible security and privacy protection in an easy-to-use package.
