Florida-based ChicaLogic, which specialises in providing technological solutions for women, has released free and paid-for versions of a new anti-malware tool called ChicaPC-Shield. Based on the award-winning Malwarebytes Anti-Malware solution, the free version of ChicaPC-Shield offers a powerful scan-and-remove tool that is designed to work on demand to provide additional protection alongside other security tools.

A paid-for version, which costs around $25, is also available within the program. This adds real-time protection that’s designed to work in tandem with other security products, plus a web-blocking tool that prevents users from inadvertently accessing dangerous and malware-infested websites.

ChicaLogic has released ChicaPC-Shield in response to reports that a growing number of threats are emerging from social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. A new study from comScore suggests women are more exposed to social networking, and ChicaLogic hopes the user-friendly and straightforward approach adopted by Malwarebytes will encourage women to download and use ChicaPC-Shield to provide additional protection on their computers going forward.

Although the free version provides an on-demand scanning tool, which can remove any threats it finds, only an upgrade to the paid-for version (currently around $25) will offer the real-time protection required to block threats before they’re able to get on to your computer.

ChicaPC-Shield is free to download, install and use, and requires a PC running Windows 2000 or later.
