Microsoft OneNote for iPad
Microsoft OneNote for iPad keep your notes synchronized between your PC and iPad

Despite having its own mobile platform to support, Microsoft has not forgotten the importance of keeping app available for other devices. The iPhone version of OneNote has been available for a little while now, but the iPad edition has been a long time coming. Here, at last, for owner of iOS tablets, is Microsoft’s OneNote, optimized for the larger screen of the iPad

The app is a surprisingly powerful note taking tool that can be used in a variety of ways. It can be used to takes notes in a meeting or to scratch down ideas when brainstorming a new project. While it is not really a task manager, there is the option of creating to-do lists which enables you to check off different stages of a project as they are completed.

If you have Microsoft Office installed on your desktop computer, it is possible that you have already been working with the desktop version of OneNote. The two apps can be kept in sync using Microsoft SkyDrive and this cloud synchronization also means that your notes are made available online to access from any computer with an internet connection.

While the software is available free of charge, if you are as more demanding user, there may be some hidden costs further down the line. Everyone is able to create up 500 notes without incurring a penalty but if you want to create more than this you will have to buy the unlimited notes in-app purchase. For iPhone users this is just $4.99, but iPad users will find that they are expected to shell out $14.99 – this could be particularly frustrating if you own both an iPad and an iPhone and there is not a universal app available.

What's new in v2.1?

• Create new notebooks within SkyDrive
• Create, rename or delete sections
• Improved Japanese typing responsiveness
• Automatic list detection
• Bug fixes

Verdict:

A great tool to compliment the desktop version of OneNote, but if you need to be able to create lots of notes it quickly becomes expensive.

Unreal Engine 4.8

Free Full Commercial Software

Unreal Engine is Epic Games' game engine, a powerful suite of tools for developing anything from basic 2D games to professional RPGs, first person shooters and whatever else you like.

Wide standards support - DirectX, OpenGL, JavaScript/ WebGL - means your projects can be targeted to almost any platform: consoles, iOS, Android, Windows, OS X, Linux, HTML5 browsers and more.

There's a vast amount to learn, of course, and that's even before you start building your game. But there's plenty of documentation, tutorials, demos and sample projects to point you in the right direction.

The package is now entirely free, too - no annoying limitations, nag screens or anything else. Epic now only requires that you pay a 5% royalty after the first $3,000 of revenue per product per quarter. And even then, you "pay no royalty for film projects, contracting and consulting projects such as architecture, simulation and visualization."

8.48 brings:
    - Optimized grass rendering and procedural foliage system preview
    - Plugins available in Marketplace
    - Improved accuracy for motion blur
    - New Tone Mapper
    - Support for all the latest VR hardware including Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR, Steam VR and HTC Vive, Leap Motion, and Sony's Project Morpheus for PlayStation 4
    - "Scrubbable" network replays with rewind support and live time scrubbing
    - Visualize the memory footprint of game assets in an interactive tree map UI
