You can use the app to take photos of your things and then add information such as a description, purchase prices, warranty details and almost anything else you think may be useful in the future.

You are not restricted to filling in pre-defined fields, you can also add text notes to any item you create, and you even have the option of attaching audio notes. iPhone 3GS and 4 owner can use their devices' built in camera to scan barcodes and the app will then retrieve information about various items to save having to type things manually.

As your list of belongings grows, you may think that it could become difficult to manage. However, thanks to the inclusion of a simple search and filtering system, it is always easy to find what you are looking for. If you have opted to stored sensitive information in your GearID database, you can add PIN protection to help repevent unauthorized access.

Should you decide to enter warranty or guarantee information for any of your belongings, the app can automatically create reminders in your calendar so you know when policies are due to expire. To help prevent data loss, your database can be backed up by exporting it to your desktop computer and there is a guided backup utility available as well.
