The more you use a PC, the more cluttered it becomes, weighed down by left-over "temporary" files, orphaned Registry keys and a host of other junk.
WashAndGo can help to reverse all this, restoring your system's original performance and stability. And not just by the usual basic steps, like emptying the Recycle Bin and clearing your browsing history. Instead, the program uses a deep knowledge of Windows and hundreds of applications to locate every surplus file and Registry key, giving your system the most thorough clean you'll find anywhere.
Install and launch WashAndGo and you'll quickly find out more, as the program analyses your system and reports on the results. This starts with the obvious junk, the Recycle Bin, crash dumps and temporary files. But our test PC also had leftover files and Registry keys from Adobe Reader, IrfanView, iTunes, Word, Skype, uTorrent and VLC Media Player, as well as many megabytes of forgotten *.OLD and *.TMP files.
We're often suspicious of applications which ask to delete so much information. If they make a mistake, then there's no telling what might happen: in the worst case, you might cripple your PC.
Fortunately, WashAndGo allows you to stay in full control. If you view its report and decide that you don't want to clear any Java files, say, just clear a checkbox and they'll be left alone.
Unusually, the program will also by default back up any files it deletes, keeping them for two weeks. If WashAndGo does cause a problem for some reason, all you have to do is restore the backup.
You might start by using WashAndGo to run a few manual cleanups, then. See how much drive space you've recovered, confirm that your system and applications work just as they always have. Or maybe even better, with the junk removed.
Once you're confident that the process is safe, you can have WashAndGo run automatically. You can have it clean your system when Windows starts, once a day, or at some preferred schedule of your own. And once this is set up, there's no need to worry about system junk anymore - WashAndGo handles it all in the background, while you get on with more important matters.
Verdict:
Decent system maintenance toolkit, but there are equally good freeware equivalents.
