As the name of this app would suggest, On this day... for iPhone is a calendar app with a difference. The program provides you with information about key events that occurred on this day in history - everything from historical events to births and deaths.

While On this day... will display information for the current day by default, it is possible to jump to any date - so you can check what happened on the day you were born. The app is interesting, entertaining and informative and includes links to further reading.

Many of the historical posts include links to Wikipedia articles which you can visit to find out more about a particular event or historical figure. If you have the Article app installed, the Wikipedia articles will load in that rather than in Safari.

On this day... is beautifully presented and is a great way to start the day or pass a few idle minutes during the day.
