Metro Home is a desktop widget for Windows that is based on the look and feel of a Windows Phone 7 and the mini-apps designed by HTC. It has been made with the simple purpose in mind of displaying the date, time and weather on your desktop in a beautifully crafted widget window that you can position anywhere on your desktop.
The size, opacity and position of the widget can be adjusted and you can opt to keep it on top of other programs and windows if you’d prefer to be able to constantly keep an eye on things. The widget window itself houses panels that display the current date and time as well as the weather at your chosen location.
There is also a panel that displays the weather forecast for the next five days and you can choose which online weather service you would like to use to deliver your forecast. The update frequency can adjusted so you can be sure that you are always looking at the very latest forecast.
Metro Home can also display a small photo slideshow to accompany its other informational panel, and the overall look and feel of the utility is stylish and polished. This a great widget for Windows Phone 7 owners, but everyone can benefit from its clear, concise display of information.
Note that Metro Home requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4 and is not supplied with an installer. To install, just drag the Metro Home folder to your desired location.
Verdict:
A great and attractive way to monitor the time and weather whatever you may be doing at your computer.
