With the release of Windows 8, everything’s gone very Metro in style. As well as a new look for Windows and other software and services from Microsoft, third party developers are getting in on the act, creating programs that look vastly different from the previous generation of Windows’ apps and tying nicely with the look of the latest version of the operating system. This is exactly what we find with Immersive Explorer, a Windows 8/Metro style Explorer replacement tool.
Unlike most file browsers, Immersive Explorer lets you focus on what you want to do with your files rather than having to think about how you are going to go about doing it. The program adopts the same look as the Windows 8 Start menu, making it easy to navigate through your filers and folder with a slick, stylish interface.
The name of the app comes from the fact that you are not forced into using other tools to complete different tasks. The example given is that when you want to view an image, there is no need to use your file browser to navigate to the file in question and then load it up in a separate viewer. With Immersive Explorer you can view the image directly within the app window.
Immersive Explorer is finally out of beta.
Verdict:
One to watch – this is an Explorer replacement with style.
