You may well have guessed from the spelling of the name, but in case you haven’t, Bulkr is a tool that helps you to deal with your Flickr account. The Flickr web site is generally fairly useable, but there is certainly room for improvement, and this is what Bulkr aims to provide. If you are sort of person that makes heavy of the photo and video sharing site, you may well need a utility to help you to get the most from it, and this could be just what you’ve been waiting for.

Many people use Flickr not only as a means of sharing their photos and videos with others, but also as a tool for backing up their digital image collection. However, it is still a good idea to look at things the other way round and to consider your Flickr account as something that might need backing up Bulkr can be used to backup your videos and photostream in a few clicks and you can also download your own photo sets or those of anyone else on the site.

Bulkr can be used as an alternative to the Flickr web site as you are able to browse through your photostream, sets and favorites and you can choose to download up to 500 images at once. But you can alos access the rest of Flickr as a whole, looking through groups, browsing the photos of individual users, or performing searches for certain types of image. All of this may seem like little to get execited about, but in practice Bulkr is a great time saver and a genuinely useful utility.

As this is an Adobe AIR app, it is a cross platform tool that can is available for Windows, OS X and Linux, but you will have to make sure that you have this host utility installed in advance. There is also a Pro+ version of the tool available which currently costs $39. This gives you access to free upgrades for life, the ability to download additional EXIF data, additional sorting options and a few more extra features – but the free version is still impressive as it is.

Verdict:

A very useful tool for digital photography enthusiasts looking to make better use of Flickr.
