XProtect is a simple open-source program for encrypting one or more files.
A straightforward interface enables selecting your target files, entering a password and choosing one of three operating modes.
1. Encrypt and save individually (ten source files produce ten archived destination files).
2. Encrypt and save into a single file (ten source files produce a single archive).
3. Encrypt and save into a single self-extracting executable (ten source files produce a single encrypted EXE, which extracts the source when you enter the password).
The files are encrypted using AES-256, whatever mode you're using.
Verdict:
XProtect doesn't do a lot, but its simplicity and ease of use make the program a convenient way to package and share encrypted files.
